2018 UEFA goal of the season nominees

Europe football governing body UEFA has released the nominees for the “Uefa goal of the season”.

England Women internationals Lucy Bronze and Elliot Embleton have been nominated for the awards alongside Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s wondrous overhead kick for his former employee Real Madrid against his new employers Juventus in the UEFA Champions League bagged the nomination ahead of his former teammates Overhead kick goal Gareth Bale against Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Elliot Embleton's strike came in a European Under-19 Championship group-stage victory over Turkey while Lucy Bronze’s selected strike came in the women version of the Uefa Champions League when her club Lyon faced Manchester City.

A goal from Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen in Denmark's World Cup play-off win over Republic of Ireland is also nominated.
