Adebayor: I still have fond memories of my time in Real Madrid

2 weeks from now  Raphael   Sport News

The Former Los Blancos forward Emmanuel Adebayor had a short spell in Real Madrid and won the Copa Del Rey during that period against Barcelona, but bonded with the fans and looking back he has fond memories of his teammates at the Bernabeu, especially Marcelo who he describes as one of the most fun colleagues he has known.

The Tongolese International joined midway through the 2010/11 season from Manchester City and scored eight goals in 22 games. Currently he plays for Basaksehir who are a point behind Galatasaray in the hunt to win the Turkish league.

"I always say that they were only six months but the best of my sports career as to be at that club and lived what I lived is something that I will tell my children," he said.

"I still have a good relationship (with Ronaldo) and every now and again we send messages. Cris is who he is for his work, always the last to leave training, working out in the gym. As well as this he is a good guy, a great himan being, like Marcelo.

"Along with Eboue, who I was with at Arsenal, he is the most fun teammate that I have had. Always joking, always laughing, he is incredible, the same as on the pitch and that is the way he lives his life.

"On the pitch he enjoys himself, he is a star. Marcelo is different, he does what he wants with the ball and is one of the best full backs in the world.

"I got on well with Sergio Ramos, he was always in the gym and so was I. He liked to speak English but didn't know it back them and I think now he speaks better. I taught him and he helped me with Spanish. The truth is that I am happy for them, that things have gone well.

Adebayor said that he would like to return to Spain one day.

"I would love to go and watch a game at the Bernabeu and say hello to the guys," he continued. "You never know when you're career will end, I have a year left in Turkey and we will see what happens. I would like to play another year in LaLiga, I love Spain and the Spanish, I want to learn the language and I love the way they treat people."

The striker also explained that he had a good relationship with the then Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.

"He taught me a lot, he would joke with us in the dressing room and then later was different with the press," he stated. "I don't know what it was and neither am I interested to know but he was a different person, it was incredible. "He taught me to be a real professional, to have a winning mentality and work extra hours."
