Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says it's not easy to beat Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium

Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo was content to collect a point from their recent clash with Orlando Pirates in Soweto. Ajax held Pirates to a goalless draw at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday last week, a fair and welcome result in the mind of Menzo. “For sure a good result, it is not easy to go and win at Pirates,” Menzo told his club's website. “I think we did well to get this result and a point we deserved. I don’t think we deserved more. “I think we started the match very well, we had good possession and we could find the free man in midfield, but from the midfielder to the final third we were very sloppy – losing the ball too easily where we could hurt them and create chances. “For the first 20 minutes that was the pattern, they managed to stop our build-up more and more so we had to start playing the long ball early which is not our way of playing.

“The first-half, though, wasn’t bad from our side and we knew that they had to win, they had to come at us, and that is what we witnessed. We worked very hard in the second half to get the one point, for sure, and at the end Brandon [Petersen] made same good saves. “Not a match where we dominate, but a match where we battled for a result.” The Urban Warriors, in eighth place on the table with 36 points from 29 games, will end their season against bottom-club Baroka at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
