Alexis Sanchez said that Lionel Messi cried after missing a penalty as Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Chelsea in the 2011/12 season.

The Manchester United forward claimed it was normal for players to be emotional.

"You may cry during a game if you lose a final, it is part of football," he explained.

"In the Barcelona dressing room after the game against Chelsea I saw Leo cry, that happened because players demand a lot of themselves and it is something that the fans don't see."

The Chilean revealed why he left Arsenal for United in the January transfer window.

"I wanted to grow and learn and have a new experience with another club. It is a very big club with an international outlook that can win everything," he added.
