Ari Efstathiou grateful for Ajax Cape Town support in 2016/17

Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou has thanked the club's fans for cheering on the team in a challenging 2016/17. Efstathiou was particularly impressed with the die-hards that took a 30-hour bus journey to support Stanley Menzo's charges during a 1-0 win over Chippa United in Mdantsane, East London on May 6. The Urban Warriors, who promoted Menzo to the hotseat after Roger de Sa quit the side in October due to a string of poor results, finished the campaign in 10th place in the Premiership. “Most importantly, we have to thank the fans because they have been unbelievable, completely loyal and committed to the club,” Efstathiou said on Ajax's website. “It was proven when they boarded a bus to East London and came to support the team when we desperately needed a result. Don’t give up, we will come back and we will come back strong. “The club needs the fans to survive and that is the most important ingredient of any club. We are very grateful to have a fan base like we do have. We know it is huge in Cape Town and we have no doubt that with a few more results there will be more coming to the stadium. “For those who attended virtually every game: from Ajax Cape Town, we thank you – we can only say that we can’t do without you.”
