Arsenal could look to Germany for Wenger successor

2 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Arsenal may move for Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann, after the young German emerged as a potential candidate to succeed Arsene Wenger, reports the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are under incredible pressure to relieve Wenger of his duties by the end of the season after a number of limp displays.

A 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday saw Arsenal fall at the last hurdle in the Carabao Cup final, while a 3-0 defeat to City at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday leaves the team 10 points behind rivals Tottenham in the race for a top-4 finish.

The Arsenal board will begin the search for his successor following a 22-year reign in the capital soon, with Nagelsmann a potential appointment.

The 30-year-old has earned widespread admirers in Germany and across Europe having steered Hoffenheim away from relegation before securing European football.

Hoffenheim currently find themselves 9th in Bundesliga and will be reluctant to allow Nagelsmann to leave.

Brendan Rodgers and Joachim Loew are among the managers, along with Nagelsmann, linked with the Emirates helm.
