Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech will almost certainly miss Saturday’s North London derby against Tottenham, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Cech could not continue midway through the second half of Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Everton on Saturday but Arsene Wenger had hoped it was just a kick to the calf.
However, the 35-year-old is not expected to recover in time to make the team for Saturday’s North London derby away to Tottenham, meaning David Ospina will make his first Premier League appearance of the season.
The Colombia international has been exclusively limited to first-team football in the cup competitions this season, last turning out in the league back in April.
Cech’s injury is not necessarily a blow for Arsenal as the former Chelsea goalkeeper has endured a notable decline since swapping west London for north London in 2015.
In fact, in that time only Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris (8) has committed more errors that have directly led to an opposition goal in the Premier League than Cech (7).
