Arsenal reportedly "agrees terms" with Inter Milan's Perisic

According to BBC Sports, Arsenal have submitted a late bid to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. Perisic was wanted by Jose Mourinho last summer, but the move broke down after the Old Trafford side refused to pay the Serie A club’s £45million valuation. Arsenal are restricted to making loan signings this month on account of their spiralling wage bill. But the Gunners are prepared to take Perisic until the end of the season and include a clause with the option to buy the player outright for £35m in the summer. Perisic has endured an underwhelming season, scoring just four goals in 25 appearances and is said to be open to a move.
According to Libero, Perisic will earn €3m after tax until June and then €6.5m until 2022 if his loan is made permanent this summer. Inter Milan have also reportedly expressed an interest in a swap deal, which will see them send Ivan Perisic to Arsenal and getting Mesut Ozil in return. However, the Serie A side wants the Gunners to pay half of Ozil’s wages, while he is on loan at the San Siro.
Ozil is paid a mega £350,000-a-week by Arsenal, but hasn’t had much of a look-in since Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger as manager. The German has been linked with a move away this month, but his sky-high wages are understood to have put many clubs off. Perisic on his part, is keen to leave Inter this month.
However, the structure of his transfer remains a sticking point as Arsenal want to take him on loan with a €35m option to buy, while Inter would rather sell him permanently now. It comes after the Croat was benched for the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 defeat to Torino, with CEO Beppe Marotta admitting he was eyeing an exit. But Marotta says a transfer would only happen if Inter’s demands are met.
“We’ve listened to the player, who has expressed his desire to leave, but we need to make sure it makes sense from an economic point of view and no such offer has yet arrived. “But there are a few days left. “When a player expresses the way he feels, in a correct manner, you’ve got to show understanding and accommodate him, but there are financial aspects that need to be respected. “If he stays, it will be the job of the club — first and foremost the coach — to ensure the player delivers for the rest of the season,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
