Arsenal striker Lacazette out for six weeks

After an operation on his left knee, Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The Frenchman has been through a tough period, having been dropped to the bench following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's arrival in North London.

Lacazette, however, was expected to make the starting line-up in the Europa League game against Ostersunds on Thursday, due to the Gabonese forward's ineligibility to feature in the tournament.

Arsenal have announced that his operation was regarded as minor and successful, with his estimated comeback taking place in between the next four and six weeks.

His left knee injury has been another blow to the player's confidence, after he missed a couple of chances to score in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur when coming off the bench.

Upon his arrival at the Emirates, Lacazette scored in his first three Premier League games and became the first Gunner to achieve that since Brian Marwood in 1988.

Since then, however, his performances haven't reached the expected level; in the 27 games the Frenchman has played so far, he has scored nine goals.
