Arsene Wenger to extend Arsenal stay irrespective of FA Cup result

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will reportedly ink a two-year contract with the north London club following the FA Cup final against Chelsea this weekend. The Gunners ended their league campaign in fifth place after Manchester City and Liverpool managed to hold on to the Champions League qualification places. According to The Times, the long-standing manager is in line to receive a new Gunners deal after he told his close pals that he would remain at the helm. The Gunners face a tough task of beating London rivals Chelsea to the FA Cup title on Saturday, but a defeat is unlikely to have any effect on his position as the club's head coach. Meanwhile, owner Stan Kroenke has recently affirmed that he has no intention of selling his shares to minority shareholder Alisher Usmanov despite a £1.3bn bid from the Russian magnate last month. Arsenal will be plying their trade in the Europa League for the first time under the Arsene Wenger reign, and there are expected to be significant changes in the backroom staff as well as players ahead of next season.
