Atletico get the job done in the first leg

2 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Copenhagen provided an early scare for Atletico Madrid on Thursday night but the visitors came away from Parken Stadium with a 4-1 first leg lead for their Europa League round of 32 meeting.

Reserve goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya was comfortably beaten by Viktor Fischer's early deflected effort and yet Atleti were behind for barely five minutes as Saul Niguez headed in Antoine Griezmann's teasing cross.

A lovely move then put Los Colchoneros ahead, Lucas Hernandez combining with Griezmann with a cute backheel through the legs of a defender teeing up the Frenchman for a cross to Kevin Gameiro, who made no mistake.

Griezmann made the result on the night safe with a calm finish after 70 minutes before Vitolo got in on the action, firing a low shot that beat Robin Olsen too easily to all but book Atletico's place in the last-16.
