Luis Suarez will play no further part in Barcelona's season after suffering a knee injury. The problem will rule him out of the Copa del Rey final against Valencia and puts his involvement in this summer's Copa America at risk. The Uruguayan will have an arthroscopy on Thursday and will receive treatment from knee specialist Ramon Cugat with the supervision of the club's medical staff.
Suarez has suffered from knee problems over the course of the campaign and this operation will stand him in good stead ahead of next season. The news came as a surprise to Barcelona fans because the striker had completed 90 minutes without any problems against Liverpool on Tuesday.
With 25 goals this campaign, Suarez has played a key part in Barcelona's LaLiga Santander triumph, as well as their run to the Copa del Rey final.
