According to Spanish Media Outlet Marca, Barcelona are very close to completing the surprise signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Italian club Sassuolo. The Ghana international has previous experience of LaLiga Santander from his time with Las Palmas and has also starred in the Champions League with AC Milan. Boateng is now 31 and will arrive at the Camp Nou as cover for Luis Suarez in attack, following the departure of Munir El Haddadi.
RAC1 first reported the news that the Blaugrana were close to his signing and it has since been confirmed by MARCA. After deciding against pursuing Alvaro Morata, who is close to Atletico Madrid, Carlos Vela or Cristhian Stuani, Barcelona believe that the former Schalke man is a good option to fulfil Ernesto Valverde's wishes for an alternative in the final third.
In recent games, he has rotated both Lionel Messi and Suarez, sending a clear message about his options. MARCA have confirmed that Boateng said goodbye to his Sassuolo teammates on Monday morning as he prepares for the switch to the Camp Nou. A move is imminent and the details are set to be finalised in the coming hours.
