Barceolona star on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir, Arda Turan, after participating in a fight in a bar last Wednesday has been fined 370,000 euros by the Turkish club. The 31-year-old midfielder was charged on Monday by the prosecutor's office for crimes of intentional injuries, violating general security, illegal possession of weapons and sexual harassment, after his fight with pop singer Berkay Sahin.
According to the singer, Turan approached his wife, making suggestive remarks to her, before head-butting her husband and breaking his nose. The Turkey international followed Sahin to the hospital, where he showed up with a gun, which he allegedly fired, without anyone being injured.
"Our board of directors met on October 15 at 7:30pm in an extraordinary meeting, as the only item on the agenda was our player Arda Turan, and several decisions were made in this regard," announced the Turkish club on their official website.
"We want to let everyone know that the facts reflected in the press, regarding the action of our footballer, who was three days away with permission for the matches of the national team, are not compatible at all with the ethics and professional concept of the football club Istanbul Basaksehir.
"Having moved the matter to the justice, and reserving our right to take additional decisions and measures, we inform the public that we have imposed (to Turan) a fine of 2.5 million lire.
"Until the Justice dictates the sentence, the player will continue with his professional responsibilities."
Basaksehir are currently second in the league, three points behind reigning champions Galatasaray.
