Sevilla will need to produce something special at the Allianz Arena if they are to reach their first ever Champions League semi-final this season.
Although Pablo Sarabia gave them the lead in the first leg against Bayern Munich, unfortunate own goals from Jesus Navas and Sergio Escudero allowed the German champions to claim a first-leg victory and to take a huge step towards the final four.
Backed by a vibrant home crowd at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, Sevilla started this one well and matched their visitors from Bavaria.
The first chance clear-cut chance for either side came in the 20th minute when an Escudero ball from the left was half cleared by Mats Hummels, but only as far as Sarabia.
However, the Spaniard fluffed his lines, shooting just wide as one whole half of the Andalusian capital expected him to score.
Before long he did have the ball in the back of the net, though, opening the scoring in the 32nd minute.
Again it originated with an Escudero cross, with Sarabia controlling it well - although possibly with some help from his left elbow - and then burying it.
However, the lead didn't last long, just five minutes in fact.
James Rodriguez passed to Franck Ribery, whose cross deflected off Jesus Navas and went spinning towards the bottom corner before David Soria could re-adjust to make it all square at the break.
Bayern Munich came out rejuvenated for the second 45 minutes and they little by little took control, pushing Vincenzo Montella's men back.
They were patient and then took their chance when it came, with Thiago Alcantara producing a diving header in the 68th minute to force the ball in off Escudero's boot.
Sevilla brought on Sandro and Luis Muriel as they looked for a goal that would pull them level on the night, but they couldn't find it and their European adventure looks like it'll end at the quarter-finals stage.
