Cagliari have spent much of the opening half of the season battling at the bottom end of the Serie A table, but they proved a real test for Juventus who required a late Federico Bernardeschi goal to win.

Juventus had plenty of chances, with 15 shots, but it wasn't until Douglas Costa's neat wing play and perfectly weighted cross set up the Italian to prod home in the 74th minute.

The win puts the reigning champions just one point behind Napoli with 20 games played.
