Bidvest Wits have decided not to exercise the one-year option they have on Jabulani Shongwe.
In a meeting that took place today between the player's agent Jazzman Mahlakgane and the league champions it was decided that he be released from his contract that ends on 30 June this year. Shongwe's contract has a one-year option which will now not be exercised and the player is free to move on and reignite a career that has stagnated at the Clever Boys. The 27-year-old did not manage a single minute of league action and was restricted to two appearances in the Nedbank Cup. "The only comfort we are taking out of the meeting we've just had right now with the club is that they will not exercise the option," Mahlakgane tells KickOff.com. "Now it's between any interested team and Wits. Anybody interested in the player can come to Wits. The bottom line is that Wits will not exercise the option they had on the player. So from now he is available."
