The 22-year-old will return to full training on Thursday or Friday, with the visit of the Foxes in the Reds' first home game of the season coming too soon for him Emre Can will not be in contention as Liverpool welcome Premier League champions Leicester to Anfield on Saturday for the first fixture in front of the new Main Stand at Anfield. The midfielder is still nursing the capsular problem with his right ankle sustained in the 5-0 EFL Cup victory over Burton on August 23.

Having sat out the 1-1 draw at Tottenham four days later, he was also omitted from Germany’s friendly against Finland and their World Cup qualifier with Norway.  And Jurgen Klopp revealed the 22-year-old is not ready yet to return to action this weekend. “In the Burton game, he didn’t even need an opponent – he did it by himself – this little issue with the ankle,” the manager explained at Melwood in his pre-match briefing. “It is much better, but Emre didn’t have a perfect pre-season and didn’t have a few games and unfortunately another two-and-a-half-week break now. “Maybe he will be back today or tomorrow in team training but it will not be enough for the Leicester game.”
