Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is confident that his team can reach the Champions League final for the third time in four years, and is also assured in his belief that goalkeeper Jan Oblak can become the best goalkeeper in Europe.
The Slovenian shot-stopper made three consecutive saves on his way to recording a clean sheet in Atletico's 0-0 home draw with Bayer Leverkusen, a result that sent Los Rojiblancos through to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League with a 4-2 aggregate victory.
"We will see who we play [in the quarter-final draw on 17 March] and we will have the same dream: to reach the final," Cerezo stated during a visit to the club's future stadium, the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Talking about Oblak, Cerezo waxed lyrically about the 24-year-old as he played a major role in Atletico advancing to their fourth consecutive quarter-final appearance.
"He's a great goalkeeper - we knew this when we signed him - and he continues to improve every day," Cerezo continued.
"I think he can be the best goalkeeper in Europe, without any doubt.
"Talking about the new stadium, Cerezo emphasised that - like many new grounds - it will provide a better experience for the fans.
"It's a wonderful stadium, ultra-modern, super comfortable, where everyone will be able to see the football in an incredible way," the Atletico president continued.
"All modern stadiums are built in a very special way and the fans will be very close together, making sure that the players can feel the presence of the supporters.
"Atletico's new stadium is a candidate to host the Champions League final of 2019, where it will compete with Baku.
"We have asked UEFA for a Champions League final and I think they will give it to us," he followed on.
"I think, within two seasons, we will see a Champions League final [at the Wanda Metropolitano] and hopefully with our team."
