El Clasico hero Luis Suárez spoke to Uruguay Sport 890 about Barcelona's search for his replacement and with his speaking openly about his age. The 31-year-old might not be thinking or retiring anytime soon with his hat-trick against Real Madrid proving he has plenty left to offer but he understands that succession plan is underway at the top of Barça's attack.
Suárez said it is normal for Barça to look for his replacement given his age and discusses his weight at the start of the season.
"It's normal that Barça would look for a number nine, I'm 31 years old," he said while also saying he wouldn't buy into the talk that he was the "best in the world" after his triple against los Blancos where he stole the show.
He also spoke about the criticism aimed at him with many suggesting he started the season overweight.
"When they said that I was fat and out of form it was a game in the Super Cup against Sevilla. I had started training on Tuesday and we played on Saturday.
"Obviously I was going to be slow and fat after coming home from a month of holidays after the World Cup. Later, you get up to speed."
Suarez's hat-trick was just the fourth in a Camp Nou Clasico since 1987, and the first since 2007, and it's an achievement that will live long in his memory.
"To score three goals against anybody is incredible," he added. "Now just imagine it against Real Madrid. "In the long run I think I will start to appreciate it a lot more, I'm just enjoying the moment in which I'm living."
Having also become a father for the third time last week, Suarez has certainly lived through a few unforgettable days.
