Chelsea fans are all up in the air as they saw one of their rising youngsters, Callum Hudson-Odoi hit top gear for his country England against Montenegro. The 18-year-old started the all-important Euro 2020 qualifiers game against Montenegro due to injuries to some of the first team players and didn't disappoint a bit.
Both Hudson-Odoi and his fellow Chelsea teammates Ross Barkley were decisive for the Three Lions as they thrash Montenegro 5-1. Though the fun was disrupted by discriminatory chants against Odoi and his other black teammates by Montenegro fans at the stadium. He sets up England's second goal of the game after a wonderful play from the left wing as he cuts through two defenders before sending in a shot which was diverted in by Barkley.
After the game, Odoi called for UEFA to take actions against the "monkey chants" channeled at him and his teammates.
"I don't think discrimination should be anywhere," he told beIN Sports. "We're equal, we have to play a fair game and enjoy the moment but when you're hearing stuff like that from the fans it's not right, it's unacceptable.
"Hopefully UEFA deal with it properly because when I went over there, me and Rosie heard it, they were saying 'ooh-ah', monkey stuff.
"We have to just keep our heads, keep a strong mentality. Hopefully Rosie is okay as well." "We'll have a chat and discuss what happened but he's got a strong mentality, he's a strong guy. Hopefully UEFA deal with it."
Chelsea fans couldn't but call out their manager Maurizio Sarri after the game staking claims for the young winger to be considered in the starting line up in their next game against Cardiff City in the Premier League. With some of the fans also believing Sarri will certainly find an excuse not to start the youngsters.
With the likes of former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses, Tammy Abraham, and Kenneth Omeruo all finding it hard to break into Sarri's squad, many fans have assumed he doesn't have preference for black players and also took a strategic way to take N'golo Kante out of the way as it was rumoured that he doesn't want the World cup winner in his team when he took up Chelsea's job.
But he couldn't achieve his aim as the two-time Premier League winner is a huge member in the team and he's being loved by the fans. Thus, he took a cunning way by bringing in his own man in the person of Jorginho, who he worked with at his former club SSC Napoli and he changed Kante's position from his natural defensive duties to a more attacking position.
Same thing is being said of Callum Hudson-Odoi who has always been on point anytime he's being given a little chance to showcase is talent. But as of now Chelsea fans really want more from him as they see him as the perfect replacement for Belgian international Eden Hazard who is being linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Chelsea next game will be against Cardiff this weekend with fans expecting to see Callum Hudson-Odoi in the starting lineup after his brilliant performance during the international break.
