Chelsea Longterm Target Gonzalo Higuain Lands In London As He Hopes To Make Debut Against Tottenham In The Carabao Cup

10 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

According to reports, Gonzalo Higuain has landed in London as Chelsea hope to complete the deal on time to enable him feature against Tottenham tomorrow.  The Juventus striker, who has been at AC Milan for the first half of the season, has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League and now looks to finally be heading for British shores.
Chelsea are in desperate need for attacking reinforcements and, according to AS, Higuain boarded a private flight at Milan’s Linate Airport at 7am UK time, bound for Farnborough.  From there, it is a 45-minute drive to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, where he will undergo his medical with the club keen for a deal to be done by midday.
If Higuain has been registered by 12 o’clock on Wednesday, he will be eligible to face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday night. The club are desperate for him to be able to play in the game, and they got him on the earliest possible flight from Milan on Wednesday.  Spurs lead the tie 1-0 going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge, and Higuain would be likely to watch the tie from the stands if not able to play.
His arrival will signal the beginning of the end for Alvaro Morata, who is expected to join Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of the season.    The incoming Chelsea man flourished under Sarri at Napoli, before moving to Juventus in 2016 and then to AC Milan on loan.  Sarri and the striker enjoyed success together at Napoli before Higuain left for Serie A rivals Juventus in a stunning £76m move back in the summer of 2016.
Sarri is hopeful the Argentina international can end Chelsea’s problems in attack, with the Blues having scored just four goals in their last five games.  AC Milan are on the verge of completing a £30million deal for Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek, which has paved the way for Higuain’s move to Chelsea. The Serie A side have reportedly agreed a fee to sign the forward, who only joined Genoa in the summer. Piatek, who has netted 13 league goals this season, is expected in Milan on Wednesday for a medical ahead of signing a lucrative five-year deal
