Chippa United have welcomed the return of four players ahead of their Absa Premiership clash against Highlands Park this weekend. The Chilli Boys have been hampered by injuries to several key players in recent months, with the team going through a massive slump as a result. A run of 11 games without a win subsequently saw the Port Elizabeth-based club part ways with coach Dan Malesela earlier this month, before assistant coach Zipho Dlangalala also announcing his exit days later.

Former Platinum Stars defender Mbuyiselo Sambu has since taken charge of the team and will welcome the return of some of his charges, as he looks to steer the ship away from the relegation zone in the final three games of the season. The club, however, have since confirmed the return of striker Rhulani Manzini, winger Menzi Masuku and versatile duo Siyabonga Ngubane and Xolani Mdaki. Masuku missed the last four games in all competitions due to rib injury, and last featured in the 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on April 15, while Manzini and Ngubane have been out due to hamstring and hip injuries respectively.

Manzini, who has five goals in six league starts this season, has missed Chippa's last five games but is back in contention for this weekend's action. Mdaki, who has made 12 starts in all competitions this season, went off with a knee injury in their 4-1 defeat against Cape Town City last month, but has since returned to training.

Meanwhile Katlego Mashego is still recieving treatment and undergoing rehab on his torn quadricep muscles, but a second scan has shown "good healing" according to the club. Finally, defender Pentjie Zulu is set to return to training next week after suffering a hamstring tear against Orlando Pirates a fortnight ago.
