Manchester City has been dealt with another injury blow with the team still sweating over the injury of Kevin De Bruyne.
The defending champions confirmed on Monday in a statement released on their official website that their second goalie Claudio Bravo has sustained an Achilles tendon injury. In the statement release it was confirmed that the Chilean international got injured in the training session on Monday.
“Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has sustained an Achilles tendon injury in today’s training session,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The Chilean keeper underwent scans this afternoon which have confirmed a rupture in the tendon of his left foot. “He will fly out to Barcelona for further tests on Thursday where the extent of the injury will be examined.”
With the former Barcelona goalkeeper said to be out for some months the Cityzens are left with only first team keeper Ederson with no competent replacement in bench having sold Joe Hart and and Angus Gunn on permanent deals to Burnley and Southampton, respectively, earlier this summer.
The English Premier league summer transfer window was closed earlier this season compared to how it has been in previous seasons, which shows the reigning champions will make do without a top notch replacement with the only other option at their disposal is 20-year-old Daniel Grimshaw, who hasn’t made a senior appearance.
