Clinton Larsen praise for Golden Arrows players after Sundowns win

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen expressed his delight at his team's Nedbank Cup win over Mamelodi Sundowns, while lauding his players' efforts. Arrows put out a disciplined display to edge The Brazilians 1-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Nduduzo Sibiya bagging the only goal midway through the second half. Larsen was praiseful of his side's defensive display against the reigning African champions, but argued that the result and their advancement in the competition was more important than their display on the night. "A difficult first half. In the first half we created three chances and zero to them. The second half was the same thing," Larsen told SuperSport TV. "I thought defensively everybody did a very good job for the team, starting at the top with [Lerato] Lamola. Once again 'Nkosi' Gumede in goals, everything we ask of him he's been doing for the last 5-10 games.

"So we're very happy to be through to the next round, but these players have really been working very hard and I'm happy for them. "Nobody is going to remember our performance, we're through to the next round and that's all that matters." The former Bloemfontein Celtic mentor also had special praise for their young prospect Sibiya, who bagged his third goal of the season. "Brilliant goal. He's one of the kids that have come through from the Diski Challenge – Sibiya – he's been amazing in our last five games," said Larsen. "I think the country can start to see what a talent he is. I'm very happy for him, he's taken his game more seriously, become more professional in his approach to the game and I can't be more delighted for him."
