Clock is ticking on Bauza's Argentina reign as Sampaoli lined up

Financial issues are the only factor preventing the Argentine FA from dismissing national team coach Edgardo Bauza, with Jorge Sampaoli considered the ideal replacement.
A highly inconsistent run of form in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup has the 59-year-old clinging on to his job having only taken over in August of last year.Bauza would already be out of the role were it not for the AFA's fears over forking out for his compensation package, which would not be an issue were the former Rosario man to resign.
"We are going to review all the contracts that we've signed," Daniel Angelici told Radio Continental as the organisation seek a route towards a new coach.
"I am very confident in the players, we will reach the World Cup."Sevilla boss Sampaoli is the clear preference to succeed Bauza in the Albiceleste hotseat, the Argentine having recently admitted he'd like to coach Lionel Messi every day, with Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone and River Plate's Marcelo Gallardo also admired but considered unattainable.
