With permission from Falcao, who, after scoring 58 goals in 71 matches still retains the best average (0.81) of the Simeone era, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa are undoubtedly the best strikers who have played for Atletico Madrid during this glorious stage. 

Cholo himself was responsible for avoiding the debate recently."The most important footballer who has reached Atletico in recent years," was his description of Costa. 

Although he has played more matches, the Spanish-Brazilian has already equalled El Tigre's 58 goals. Griezmann's place in rojiblanco history isn't up for discussion either.

On 91 occasions he heas celebrated a goal for Atleti, even though he's the most used striker (183 matches) since the Argentinian has on the bench.

"We have worked hard to bring in Griezmann and Costa, so hopefully we can keep them for a while," Simeone expressed on December 30 in Alexandria, on the eve of Costa's presentation. He was only repeating the wish that the CEO himself, Miguel Angel Gil, had verbalised days before.

UP FOR THE CUPThe Costa-Griezmann partnership, while it lasts, is one of the greatest hopes of Atletico in their fight for everything. 

Starting with the cup, a trophy where they have previously left their stamp. 

If the Frenchman leads the ranking in LaLiga and Champions League goals, the cup is Costa territory. 

The Spanish-Brazilian has 10 goals in the competition, the Frenchman one less.

Both also improve their averages in this competition; (0.64) for Griezmann and (0.62) for Costa.
