Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to battle for a Champions League record

8 months from now  Raphael   Sport News

Two of the world's top forwards have a new record in their sights with one game left in the Champions League group stages, after both Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo scored in each of the first five matchdays.
If the Real Madrid ace scores against Borussia Dortmund and the Paris Saint-Germain forward nets against Bayern Munich, they would become the first players to record such a feat of scoring in all six group stage games in the Champions Leagues.
No player has ever done so in Europe's elite competition, despite its illustrious past.
Portugal captain Ronaldo is the current top goalscorer in the competition with eight goals, whilst the world's most expensive footballer has six.
Both teams are guaranteed to qualify for the next round, with Real Madrid likely to settle for second whilst PSG face a play-off for top spot against Bayern Munich after they beat them 3-0 in Paris, thanks to a goal from Neymar.
No team has scored as many as PSG have in the group stage of the Champions League, with that tally already at 24.
If Cristiano Ronaldo scores twice on Wednesday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, he would not only achieve this new record but he could also overtake Lionel Messi's goalscoring tally for the group stage of the competition, as long as the Argentine doesn't score against Sporting CP.

Top scorers in Champions League group stage

Lionel Messi 60 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo 59 goals
Karim Benzema 40 goals
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 32 goals
Raul González 29 goals
Edinson Cavani 26 goals
Sergio Aguero 25 goals
Didier Drogba 25 goals
Robert Lewandowski 25 goals
Ruud van Nistelrooy 25 goals

A hat-trick could even see Ronaldo smash another record, this time one of his own.
Two years ago he managed 11 goals in the first round and if he scores three he will match that this season, while four would better his previous tally.
