Dani Carvajal out for two to three weeks

7 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Real Madrid will be forced to negotiate the second leg of their semi final against Bayern Munich without Dani Carvajal, after the Spaniard was ruled out out for two to three weeks.

The right-back attempted to play through the pain in Bavaria, however, he didn't last much longer than a couple of minutes from the point where he first felt the injury.

Zinedine Zidane will now be forced to prepare to deal with Franck Ribery once again with his best full back unable to play.

Lucas Vazquez did a remarkable job as a utility right back in the final 10 minutes, but it's difficult to judge whether he'll be able to be as disciplined over the full 90 minutes in the second leg.

Carvajal was suspended for the first leg of the first knockout round tie against Paris-Saint Germain and Nacho Fernandez deputised on that occasion, although he too is injured at the moment.

This leaves Achraf Hakimi as the only natural option at right-back, and whilst the Moroccan impressed in parts during his run in the senior team during the winter, limitations in his game were shown on a couple of occasions - ones which a veteran like Ribery would be able to exploit.

There is also the small matter of David Alaba likely being fit enough to play in the second leg, and e: this dual threat will ensure Los Blancos' right side will need to be reinforced.
