Another night another historical European night at stake at the Stadio Olimpico is required from Roma and Eusebio Di Francesco is hoping his side can emulate what they did against Barcelona with Liverpool.
The Giallorossi are only in the Champions League semi-finals thanks to a stunning 3-0 win over Barcelona after a 4-1 first leg deficit last round, and come into Wednesday's game trailing 5-2 on aggregate.
"On the computer, I would like to copy and paste our performance against Barcelona," he remarked in Tuesday's pre-match press conference. "To compete with Liverpool, we have to increase the quality of our performance. We must have the ability to score as soon as possible, to excite the public. "We face a totally different team [than Barcelona] from the tactical point of view and in their mentality, they play fewer passes and are more direct. "This changes a lot on the tactical level. On the other hand, on the motivation level, nothing changes. "We want to give everything on the pitch and do something big."
Liverpool last came to the Italian capital for a European Cup final in 1984, beating Roma on penalties, and Di Francesco is pleased to see two continental giants reappear at the summit of the competition.
"It has been too long, it is felt more in the hearts of the fans," he continued. "But now it's another football, another era. The motivations are different. It is a semi-final, so it is in itself an important match. "I'm not satisfied, we have to do our best to get to Kiev. Our will has to be to reach the final. "I will try to motivate my players so that they are convinced that they can do something big."
