After Argentina’s loss against Croatia on Thursday night, Diego Simeone was speaking to his assistant German Burgos, where he pointed out that Cristiano Ronaldo is more valuable than Lionel Messi in an average team.

Both coaches are Argentine by blood and they gave their thoughts after the game ended in which they were overhead on Marca Radio.

"Messi is very good but he is very good because he is surrounded by extraordinary players if you have to choose between Messi and Ronaldo for a normal team who do you go for?" said Simeone.

"What is happening at the moment is what has been happening in the national team for the past four years, unfortunately. Anarchy, no leadership, neither at board level or those that run the team. The team looks lost. "It's clear in the dressing room they are being given a slapping but someone needs to fight."

The Atletico Madrid coach also criticised Willy Caballero, who made a mistake for Rebic's opener.

"The goalkeeper, come on German, he has already done it before," said Simeone. "He did it against Spain, against Italy when the ball went in at the near post. If you cock up at the World Cup then it is a goal."
