Dybala wants to follow in Messi's footsteps

His two goals against Barcelona on the grand stage of the Champions League quarter-finals have seen Paulo Dybala take the next step in his young career and the 23-year-old is hungry for more success.
At Dybala's age, his idol Lionel Messi had already scored 127 goals and provided 59 assists for his club on his way to 12 trophies and two Ballon d'Or successes, so the Juventus player has a long way to go to improve on his 77 goals, 38 assists and three trophies, but he is getting there.
"I don't want to be Messi, I want to be Dybala," he insisted in an interview with MARCA, but that does not mean the Argentine does not want to follow in the glory-laden path of his national team colleague and hero.
For the Blaugrana No.10, 2008/09 was the season he truly came of age as he more than doubled his previous season's goal tally of 16 to 38, something Dybala is similarly aiming to do.
He has improved his return each year he's been in Europe, from three goals in 2012/13 to five in 2013/14 to 13 in 2014/15 to 23 in 2015/16.
With 16 goals and eight assists already in the bag this current campaign, the Juve forward could once again better his previous season's numbers and such steady and consistent progression could see him one day reach Messi's heights.
Dybala is already following in Messi's footsteps and he wants to continue this trajectory for some time yet.
