Before PSG's fixture away at Guingamp, Unai Emery and Angel Di Maria had a discussion where the Spanish head coach asked the 28-year-old to raise his level, according to Radio Monte Carlo.
On the pitch, however, it did not appear to have the desired effect as the Parisians went on to lose the game 2-1 with the Argentine midfielder's performance deemed not up to standard.
Following that performance, Di Maria did not feature in PSG's 5-0 rout against Lorient on Wednesday with some apparent discomfort.
"An injury that suited everyone," claimed Radio Monte Carlo.
The same radio station reports that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has sided with Emery and he has requested that Di Maria raises his game to the level that the French side expected when they bought him from Manchester United.
Should he not improve his performances, the bench could be the fate for Di Maria.
