According to Dailypost, Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has decided to make a move for Yannick Carrasco after the Gunners were offered the chance to sign the Belgium international. Carrasco left Atletico Madrid for Chinese side Dalian Yifang a year ago, although Belgian newspaper HLN claims he is unhappy and instructed his representatives to make contact with Arsenal.
According to Foot Mercato, Emery has responded favourably to the opportunity to sign Carrasco and a formal bid is expected “in the coming days”. The Arsenal boss is a big fan of Carrasco while he has made no secret of his desire to sign a player to bolster his options out wide, confirming he wanted to recruit ‘a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position’.
However, Arsenal could struggle to convince Dalian Yifang to sell with the side having paid £27m to sign Carrasco just a year ago. Carrasco is currently earning around £8.8m a year in China, a salary Arsenal cannot match, though he appears open to accepting a pay cut in order to return to Europe. The former Atletico winger has enjoyed a solid first campaign in China, scoring seven goals in 25 games in all competitions and playing a key role in avoiding relegation.
