England Born Trio (Including Chelsea Star) Train With Super Eagles Ahead Of Potential Switch

Three England-born players of Nigerian descent, on Saturday night, arrived the Super Eagles’ camp. They are attacking midfielders Josh Maja (Sunderland) and Ebere Eze (Queens Park Rangers), and Chelsea youngster, Ola Aina.  All were invited to join the Nigeria squad for a training match on Monday, for assessment by the technical crew.

The youngsters, especially Aina, could make their debuts for the Super Eagles if an opponent can be secured in place of Burkina Faso, who pulled out of the proposed friendly with Nigeria on Monday in London, due to the failure of their players to secure entry visas. Aina, 20, plays as a full back at Premier League leaders Chelsea, and is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge.

He is also an England youth international, and news broke on Friday that he had held talks with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr over the possibility of switching his international allegiance to Nigeria from England. Although no conclusions were reached in that meeting, but it seems the youngster has made up his mind to wear the green and white colours of Nigeria.
