Enugu State Government has come out to quash recent reports in the media that have suggested Rangers' coach Imama Amapakabo had been relieved of his duties. The State Government through its commissioner for Youths and Sports Charles Ndukwe made this known at the Government House on Wednesday. Mr. Ndukwe said the Amapakabo was only suspended based on the recent run of poor performance and would return to the job at the end of his suspension. He further questioned the authority of General Manager Christian Chukwu on the sack as the government had not given consent to this.

“The General Manager has no right to sack a coach, and Enugu State government cannot take an abnormal action”. He informed journalists that Mr. Chukwuma Agbo is presently the chief coach of the club, adding that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is interested in the welfare of the club and will do everything possible to restore its glory. Rangers remain bottom of the NPFL and are risk falling out of the CAF Confederation's Cup after giving up two late away goals in the game against Zesco United of Zambia.
