EPL: Mourinho expected to be sacked after Newcastle game

1 month ago  Raphael   Sport News

The Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks as results continue to go against the Old Trafford club. The problems stem from off-the-pitch issues, with Mourinho having clashed with both Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez in recent weeks.
According to a source at Manchester United, some of the Red Devils squad believe Mourinho’s time in charge of the Old Trafford club has come to an end.
The reason for the apparent demise of the Portuguese – and why the changing room is turning against him – is to do with the way he criticizes his players. His squad do not like the way he undermines individuals in front of others and knocks their confidence, which is affecting performances.
The former Chelsea Manager has lost the confidence of the Manchester United board and is set to be sacked this weekend.
Senior Manchester United sources revealed to set of media crew that he has reached the point of no return, with the axe ready to fall whatever the outcome of Saturday’s match against Newcastle.
The manager appeared resigned to his fate at an early-morning press conference yesterday where he was downcast and sullen.
The home team is currently on a run of four matches without a win, and Mourinho has admitted that it would be unacceptable for his side to make it five on the trot for only the second time since 1999, as he told reporters in response to that prospect: “Yes, I accept (it is not good enough). Only one defeat at home all season, only one defeat in the last seven matches,” Mourinho continued.
“But not victories at home in the past three matches – three draws. Not the feeling of the defeat, but not the happiness of the victory. So, yes, it is important for us to try and win this match on Saturday.”
This is laughable as it means the Portuguese does not acknowledge the penalty shoot out loss to Derby as a home defeat.
United currently languish 10th in the Premier League, already nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City and are without a win in their last four games in all competitions.
The Reds were booed off after their drab 0-0 home draw to Valencia in midweek, which is said to have finally convinced the United hierarchy that a change is needed.
That came on the back of a 3-1 defeat at West Ham, which saw United legend Paul Scholes call for ‘Special One’ Mourinho to go.
