EPL: Wolves stop Liverpool from equaling Man Utd record

9 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Liverpool made it 40 games without tasting a defeat after earning a nervy 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night at the Molineux. Goals from Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino gave Jurgen Klopp's side all three points away from home.
Liverpool were on course to break Manchester United's Premier League record but were stopped by the Wanderers.
Liverpool won their last seven Premier League games without conceding a goal before the match, but the goal from Raul Jimenez stopped the Red's run. The last time a team won eight games without conceding was in February 2009, when Manchester United won nine consecutively.
Jiménez's goal in the 51st minute ended a run of 725 minutes without conceding a Premier League goal for Liverpool since Richarlison scored for Everton at Anfield exactly 50 days ago.
Liverpool will face Shrewsbury in FA Cup fourth-round tie on Sunday before playing their outstanding Premier League fixture against West Ham on Wednesday.
