Manchester United's travelling squad ahead of their Europa League fixture against Astana on Thursday night has been revealed. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named a largely inexperienced group of players for the match, with ten players potentially in line to make their first-team debut.
Dylan Levitt, Largie Ramazani and Ethan Laird are among the youngsters called up to the squad for the match, with Teden Mengi and DiShon Bernard also named. Max Taylor has been included in the first-team squad just over 12 months after starting chemotherapy treatment for cancer, while Ethan Galbraith, Arnau Puigmal, Matej Kovar and D'Mani Bughail-Mellor have also travelled.
The inclusion of Levitt is of little surprise considering his recent form at youth level. The 18-year-old joined the first team for training over the weekend and has been included in three senior Wales squads by manager Ryan Giggs.
Mason Greenwood netted a brilliant goal in the weekend draw with Sheffield United and looks to be in line to feature from the start in Kazakhstan. The teenage forward has formed an integral part of United's European squad this season and has been involved in 60 per cent of United's five goals in the Europa League with two goals and one assist.
Senior players Luke Shaw and Axel Tuanzebe have both also been included in the squad with the pair likely to get some minutes later in the week. The defensive duo have recently returned from injury and will be eager to continue their rehabilitation as part of a new-look defence.
United are yet to concede a goal in the Europa League this season – no side has ever kept a clean sheet in each of their opening five group stage games in a campaign in the competition.
As expected Nicky Butt has travelled with the first-team for the match, while Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna have stayed behind in Manchester to prepare senior squad members for the weekend Premier League match against Aston Villa.
