Pep Guardiola has asked for more protection for players after Leroy Sane was injured by a brutal challenge from Cardiff City's Bennett and it also led to worry from Germany over their international.

Bennett was only shown a yellow card for his high challenge although he was later sent off for a second booking, while the Manchester City player is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks.

Guardiola was angry afterwards and there was a light-hearted tweet from the German national team that they are also watching on and worried about Sane's fitness.
