According to reports in Sky Sports, shareholders have approved five substitutions in games when the English Premier League resumes on June 17.
This was decided in the latest league meeting on Thursday. The 20 member clubs in their meeting discussed a lot of issues and a range of measures building towards the planned return to action later this month.
It was decided in the meeting that, for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, the number of substitutes used during a match will increase from three to five players.
Shareholders also approved for clubs to increase the maximum number of substitute players on the bench from seven to nine for the rest of the 2019/20 season.
The rule was proposed by FIFA to IFAB, a body responsible for the laws of the game. The rule has been welcomed in so many leagues and the Premier League was not left behind.
