Fabregas, Modric and Bale among the list of football's rebels

1 week from now  Raphael   Sport News

Marco Verratti is determined to play for Barcelona, refusing to train with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates this week in a bid to force through a transfer. He will follow his own fitness plan in the gym instead as he aims to force the club to enter discussions with the Blaugrana over a move.
However, it isn't the first time that a player has resorted to such measures in a bid to leave their club.

Cesc Fabregas
The Catalan midfielder followed the same strategy that Verratti is opting for in a bid to join the Camp Nou outfit.
Having made it clear that he wanted to return to Barcelona, he trained alone for much of Arsenal's pre-season and finally ending up getting his wish.

Luka Modric
The Croatian was determined to make the move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid, so much so that he did not report at their training camp or embark on the squad's United States pre-season tour.Under such pressure from the player, Spurs eventually relented and sold him to Los Blancos.

Gareth Bale
Modric isn't the only player who forced through a move from White Hart Lane to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, with Bale involved in a similar situation. He decided not to train with the club due to his desperation to make the move to the Spanish capital.

Sergio Aguero
In July 2011, 'Kun' made it clear that he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid and decided not to join in with training in an attempt to convince the club that they were better cashing in on him.He finally ended up signing for Manchester City in a deal worth 45 million euros.

Others who got away with it
Carlos Tevez, Ronaldo and Robinho are others who staged a one-man rebellion in order to force a departure and it worked for each of them at various points of their career.
It didn't work for Franck Ribery
Such a strategy hasn't been successful for everyone though, as Ribery found out when he tried to push through a move to Real Madrid in 2009.His club refused to entertain the Frenchman's intention to depart and an agreement was eventually reached to remain with Bayern Munich.
