The 132nd meeting of the International Board has approved the use of video referees at the World Cup in Russia, and in tournaments organised by FIFA. 

A decision was adopted unanimously thanks to the full support of Gianni Infantino.

VAR can be used in the following four situations: 

Whether the ball goes over the line or not (goal or not), penalty or not, direct red card and a possible error in player identification.

The IFAB has also given their agreement to the option of a fourth substitute in extra time, a circumstance that has been tested in the last three years and that has been positive for the health of the players.
