Gareth Bale flattered about being linked with Bayern Munich

In a season that has been filled with ups and downs for Gareth Bale, the Welshman was reportedly linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer, and it was revealed that the Real Madrid forward was flattered to be linked with the club.

The Wales international is no longer considered first choice by Zinedine Zidane but has previously been determined to make things work at Madrid. Bale has constantly been linked with a return to the Premier League but has now spoken about a potential switch to German giants Bayern.

“In football you can never say never,” Bale told Sport Bild when asked about joining Bayern in the future, via Spanish outlet AS. “I’m enjoying my football in Madrid and I admit that Bayern have always been one of the best sides in European football. “To be linked with this club is an honour for any player but I’m a Real Madrid player.”

Bayern will need to overhaul their attacking options in the near future as both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are approaching retirement.

Bale was on the bench for the entire 90 minutes in their game against the same Bayern Munich last night and Real Madrid edge out with a 1-2 away win. The 28-year-old has only started 20 games in all competitions for Madrid this season, making a further 11 appearances from the bench.
