This year has been a successful year for Antoine Griezmann, winning the UEFA Europa League and Super Cup with Atletico Madrid, and also winning the World cup with his country France last month in Russia.
The former Real Sociedad striker was linked with a move away from Atletico as Barcelona was strongly interested in the Frenchman. He opted to stay at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano as he claimed that he believed in the current project in the club and that was what convinced him to stay.
"I stayed because there is a big project," he admitted in his post-match press conference. "I have confidence in this club and in Diego Simeone. "I wasn't wrong, we've done a lot of work and put in a huge amount of effort, the substitutes made the difference."
He talked about the Super Cup title win against their fierce rivals Real Madrid and hope that the club will have a good year.
"I'm very happy to win this title, it was a final and we were determined to beat any rival," he intimated to Movistar Plus. "This will give us a lot of confidence for what is coming. "It's very important for us and we hope to have a good year."
