Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is feeling the heat of the injuries suffered by his two important players with the transfer windows closed already in England. Pep Guardiola believes the Premier League should change its rules and allow emergency signings outside of the transfer window.
The club is left with no experienced back up goalkeeper for Ederson with Claudio Bravo injured in training last week Monday, the Chilean suffered a n Achilles injury.
As there is no option to buy another shot-stopper as transfer windows is closed, City have recalled 19-year-old Aro Muric from a season’s loan at Dutch side NAC Breda to act as second choice, with youth graduate Daniel Grimshaw their only other option between the sticks.
Kevin De Bruyne is also on the sidelines for the next three months after picking up an early injury this campaign.
The City boss said: “The rules are the rules so maybe the federation can think about that when there are long, long injuries and it is still the period where the European window is open.
“Then maybe you could do it. Not just for the goalkeeper but when there are big, big injuries to players. “If we were not allowed to bring back Aro, I don’t know what would have happened.
“But here it is closed because it is good that the competition starts with the whole squad but maybe we could think about that, especially when the injuries are five or six months.”
Claudio Bravo is facing a lengthy period on the sidelines after suffering his Achilles injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week. Pep Guardiola, who allowed both Joe Hart and Angus Gunn go in the summer, confirmed he would have looked to sign an experienced No2 if he was given the chance to do so.
He added: “We would have considered it, that is true. “We didn’t have any options. People were talking about us buying this player in Barcelona or this keeper in Madrid but it is not allowed so it makes no sense in that situation.
“We called the Premier League to know the situation but here the rules are the rules. They told us it is possible for him to come back and after that Aro came back.”
