Hazard: Big performances in big games will get me closer to Messi and Ronaldo

If Eden Hazard is to be the man to knock Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi off their perch, the winger knows he has to turn up in the biggest games, starting with Chelsea's match against Barcelona on Tuesday night.

The Champions League last-16 tie has his side down as the underdogs but Hazard is more than capable of starring after a number of fine seasons in West London.

"There is more to come from me in this competition, every game I try to play my best football, in the Premier League and, after we didn't play in the Champions League last season, back [in Europe] this year," the Belgian told reporters.

"I've played a few good games this season: Atletico Madrid away, Roma here, and against Atleti. You want to shine when you play the best in the world. If I want to reach that level, I need to do a great game.

"It is good to be compared with the greatest ever, Messi and Ronaldo. But I am completely different. "I try to do my job and try to reach their level, because they are the best in the world. But if you want to be one of the best, you have to play well in the big games.

"This is a big game and we are Chelsea. We are the champions of England. We are ready. We can face them, we can beat them. Let's go for it."

Chelsea will need to find a way of controlling Andres Iniesta in Tuesday's first leg and Hazard paid tribute to the Spaniard's abilities ahead of the 20:45 CET kick-off. "[Iniesta] is one of the best players in Barcelona history," said the winger. "He is playing at a high level and has been like that for many years.

"I remember the 'Iniestazo' in the last minute [of 2009's semi-final], but that has already happened and we are focused on the present."
