Many stars of world football have already moved to the Chinese Super League this transfer window and one of the latest names to be linked with the cash-rich league has been James Rodriguez, but Hebei China Fortune quickly quashed the rumours.
The club managed by former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has denied bidding 110 million euros for the Colombian midfielder, who was reportedly offered 30m euros per year in wages.
"We have never contacted Real Madrid or James Rodriguez," a club spokesperson said.
"We are in the process of making additions to our squad according to our specified plan and following the criteria that our coach has set regarding the team's needs."
Despite signing world-renowned talents such as Ezequiel Lavezzi, Gervinho, Gael Kakuta and Stephane M'Bia in the past, the club is currently focussing on the domestic market as it embarks on its second top flight season and they've already signed Ren Hang from Jiangsu Suning, while they are close to hiring ex-Rayo Vallecano man Zhang Chengdong from Beijing Guoan.
Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai Shenhua, meanwhile, were also reported to have made enquiries about James.
