Barcelona are already preparing for the summer as they have listed the players they are ready to bring in but one of the plans as got out of hands as Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had been linked with replacing Jasper Cillessen at the Camp Nou, has renewed his contract with the club until 2022.
The Eredivisie giants sought to tie the player down to a new deal as they do not want to lose another important cog, particularly after Frenkie de Jong agreed to join the Catalans this upcoming summer.
As recent reports both in Spain and Netherlands has claimed that Onana had been a candidate to become the Blaugrana's backup goalkeeper for the next season. The Cameroonian is a Barcelona academy product and has already expressed his wish to return to his former club.
Onana, his representatives and Ajax's sports director, Marc Overmars, reached an agreement on Friday and the deal will be officially announced in the upcoming hours. The 23-year-old, who has been nominated as the best goalkeeper in the Netherlands during these last two seasons, will face Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals in less than two weeks' time.
