HUGHES BELIEVES HIS SIDE CAN FRUSTRATE ARSENAL AT EMIRATES

2 weeks from now  tobi   Sport News

Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes is confident his side will give resurgent Arsenal a run for their money when they clash at the Emirates stadium on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com. The last time Stoke won away at Arsenal was in 1981. Hughe's Stoke City haven't recorded a point in their last eight visits to the Emirates, but he admits that his side is full of confidence ahead of the fixture on Saturday on the back of their last two wins over Burnley and Watford. "We had opportunities in those games last season when people thought we would struggle, and we want the same to happen this season," Hughes said during his pre-match conference.
"We are almost exactly where we thought we would be after 14 games, so we are back on track and now we want a strong festive period. "We have had a good run and we want that to continue – the longer that goes on the better from our point of view." "We are in the best place we could be in. We don't have a great record there, and we would love to change that at the weekend. It will be tough, but we are in a good place. "Arsenal, as a team, look in good shape and whilst we have a lot of confidence, given their form too, it isn't a good time to play them.
"At times, Arsenal have struggled with consistency, and it has cost them, but you sense this could be their year. It's important for us to give ourselves an opportunity to get something out of the game, we need to stay in the match and frustrate them." He also gave an injury update on his team ahead of the encounter at the Emirates. Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron are unavailable while Marko Arnautovic and Bruno Martins Indi is expected to pass a late fitness test. On goalkeeper Jack Butland who has had setbacks in recent weeks, he said: 'He wants to get back but the key is not pushing himself,"
"The setback was that we lined up a game for him and he wasn't able to play in that – which was disappointing. He did the right thing. "We aren't prepared to take any risks with him at the moment, if he feels anything at all we will assess him. He will be back for sure."
